Chris' Retirement
We are writing to inform you that effective September 1, 2024, the ownership of SBVets / Murgon Veterinary Services will be transferred to Gympie & District Veterinary Services.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, my client and the greater community. Graduating as a veterinarian 1976, I embarked on a journey through veterinary practices across New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. In February 1983, Julie and I returned to our hometown of Murgon to take up a partnership with Phillip Cook. By 1988, I became the sole owner Murgon Veterinary Services.
The journey has indeed been a rollercoaster, shaped by significant changes; such as the closure of the meatworks, deregulation of the dairy industry, and many challenging dry years. Through these times, I have been privileged to run a practice in my hometown and serve this community. However, the time has come for me to hang up my stethoscope and announce my retirement.
Although I have not been working regularly over the past 12 months due to health issues, I am excited to focus on my passion for cattle farming. As I transition into this new chapter, I am pleased to inform you that Gympie & District Veterinary Services will be taking over the practice starting September 1, 2024.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my dedicated nursing team; Kellie, Alieta, Tilly, Frith, Bree, and Amanda, along with our locum veterinarians. Their unwavering commitment and hard work have been instrumental in keeping the practice running and serving the greater Murgon area. The practices survival and success are a testament to their efforts.
As I reflect on my career, I am grateful for the opportunity to have provided service to the community, and I am confident that the practice will continue to thrive under the new ownership. I hope you will support Gympie & District Veterinary Services with the same trust and encouragement you have shown me over the years.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Best Regards
Chris Braithwaite
